The 1988 Indian Gaming Regulatory Act became law after a benchmark ruling by The U.S. Supreme Court just the prior year. From that time, 23 of the 39 Amerindian bands of Oklahoma have introduced gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Amerindian tribes to take advantage of the gambling laws, and at this time control 10 gambling halls of their very own.
