An abundance has been stated in the press not long ago regarding the bingo industry singing the blues because of the anti cigarette law in Britain. Conditions have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has called for massive tax breaks to assist in keeping the industry from going bankrupt. However will the net adaptation of this classic game present a salvation, or might it in no way compare to its real life opposite?
Bingo has been an familiar game generally enjoyed by the "blue rinse" generation. In any case the game of late had experienced a recent resurgence in popularity with younger men and women opting to visit the bingo parlours in place of the discos on a Friday night. This is all about to be reversed with the enforcement of the smoking ban throughout England and Wales.
No longer will gamblers be allowed to smoke at the same time dabbing numbers. From the summer of ‘07 all public locations will not be allowed to permit cigarettes in their venues and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most popular areas where many people enjoy smoking.
The outcome of the anti cigarette law can already be felt in Scotland where cigarettes are already banned in the bingo parlors. Numbers have plummeted and the business is absolutely fighting for to stay alive. But where have the players gone? Of course they haven’t cast aside this established game?
The answer is on the internet. Gamblers realize that they can gamble on bingo from their computer whilst enjoying a beverage and cigarette and still have a chance at big cash rewards. This is a recent development and has happened just about perfectly with the anti cigarette law.
Of course wagering on on the internet could never replace the social portion of heading down to the bingo parlour, but for a group of players the law has left many bingo enthusiasts with little choice.
