Oklahoma has long been synonymous with Bingo. That’s due to the fact that the Indian bands of Oklahoma have provided Bingo games for years. Clients from each of the surrounding states load up in trucks and head over to Oklahoma to enjoy Bingo for the weekends.
The 1988 (IGRA) Indian Gaming Regulatory Act followed a landmark determination by The U.S. Supreme Court just the year prior. From that time, twenty three of the thirty nine Native bands of Oklahoma have opened gaming halls. The Chickasaw were the 1st Oklahoma Native tribes to take advantage of the wagering laws, and today control 10 gambling halls of their own. Bingo is the game on which the above-mentioned gambling dens were founded. Electronic games such as one armed bandits were not allowed, because they are believed to contribute to gambling addiction at a higher rate than bingo.
In the past few years, Oklahoma governing edicts have changed to allow for gigantic Indian wagering gambling dens. You will now see Native gambling dens with slots, video poker and blackjack tables. Craps and roulette are still not allowed in the Indian gambling dens yet, however that is only a waiting game. No one can authority what having different games in the bingo parlors will do for the draw of bingo.
