A lot has been stated in the papers not long ago regarding the bingo industry struggling as a consequence of the anti cigarette law in the United Kingdom. Things have become so awful that in Scotland the Bingo industry has asked for big aid to help keep the industry from going bankrupt. But will the internet variation of this classic game present a salvation, or might it never compare to its bricks and mortar opposite?

Bingo is an classic game usually played by the "blue rinse" generation. However the game recently had seen a recent increase in popularity with younger men and women deciding to visit the bingo parlors instead of the clubs on a Friday night. All this is about to change with the legislating of the cigarette ban around Britain.

No longer will gamblers be able to puff on cigarettes while marking off their numbers. Beginning in the summer of ‘07 all public areas will not be allowed to permit cigarettes in their locations and this includes Bingo halls, which are possibly the most favored areas where folks enjoy smoking.

The outcome of the anti smoking law can already be seen in Scotland where cigarettes are already illegal in the bingo parlors. Profits have plummeted and the industry is beyond a doubt fighting for its life. But where have all the players gone? Obviously they have not cast aside this established game?

The answer is on the web. People know that they can play bingo from their computer whilst enjoying a beverage and cig and still have a chance at massive cash rewards. This is a recent development and has timed itself almost perfectly with the ban on smoking.

Of course playing on the web can never replace the collective part of heading over to the bingo parlour, but for a demographic of people the governing edicts have left a good many bingo enthusiasts with no option.
