Much has been written in the papers recently about the bingo industry struggling because of the anti smoking law in Britain. Things have become so poor that in Scotland the Bingo industry has requested massive tax cuts to help keep the businesses alive. However does the net version of this quintessential game provide a escape, or might it not compare to its real life kin?

Bingo is an age old game generally enjoyed by the "blue haired" generation. Although the game of late had witnessed a recent return in popularity with younger members of society deciding to hit the bingo halls instead of the discos on a Saturday night. All this is about to be destroyed with the enforcement of the smoking ban around United Kingdom.

Players will no longer be permitted to smoke whilst dabbing numbers. From the summer of ‘07 every public area will no longer be permitted to allow cigarettes in their locations and this includes Bingo parlors, which are possibly the most popular areas where folks enjoy smoking.

The results of the anti smoking law can already be observed in Scotland where smoking is already banned in the bingo parlours. Profits have plummeted and the industry is absolutely fighting for its life. But where have all the players gone? Surely they have not deserted this ancient game?

The answer is on the web. People know that they can wager on bingo using their computer while enjoying a drink and cig and in the end, enjoy massive prizes. This is a recent development and has happened bordering on perfect with the anti cigarette law.

Of course wagering on on the net can never replace the collective portion of heading over to the bingo parlor, but for a demographic of men and women the governing edicts have left many bingo enthusiasts with no option.
